What a crazy two weeks

Apparently my website demanded that I update. So here I go. I’ve been very busy working (even weekends). My company is having a big product launch in just a couple of weeks, so stress has been rising at the office. Then I found out two weeks ago, that my roommate will not be renewing our apartment lease. This is because she is planning on going to b-school this coming fall. From our last conversation, I was led to believe that she would be staying until the end of the summer before moving out. This is why I thought she’d be renewing our 5/31/09 lease. Anyhow, I called my management company after I found out she’d be moving out when the lease ends this year. They told me that I need to find a new roommate ASAP before I can even renew my lease.

I posted on Craigslist, but since it’s so early (most people are looking for a 4/1/09 move-in date), I only got a few replies. I showed the apartment to two females last weekend. Thanks to my awesome boyfriend for cleaning up the entire apartment (specifically our filthy bathroom) and “staging” everything. I really liked the last girl who came by because she told me she was only seeing one more apartment and then would be letting me know by Monday night. To my luck, she said yes! So I had to contact my management company again and let them know that I had found a new roommate. It turns out that I will need to apply for my SAME apartment again. And since I’m adding a new roommate to the mix, I will have to submit a new application and get a credit check AGAIN. I will have to pay another $100. After calling the management company (Bettina Equities) and playing phone tag with two different people, I finally was able to schedule an appointment to start the whole application process again. Oh these are the documents they needed from me (again):

1. Last three pay stubs
2. Last three bank statements with a balance of at least $3,000
3. Letter from HR regarding my position, salary and length of employment (they originally wanted my SSN on it, but my HR dept said they weren’t allowed to provide that information)
4. Copy of my birth certificate

This is after me being a tenant for over 2.5 years!

Crazy. I thought my management company would want me to stay in their building, but they’re making it quite difficult. Since I was lucky enough to find a nice roommate, I will continue to deal with my management company. I do love my apartment and really awesome super, so this is the main reason why I’m staying. Plus, moving is such a pain! Now I’ll only need to move to the other room. I’m going to have a room with real walls!

Oh by the way, I’m getting back into Lost even though I’ve missed the last three seasons. This isn’t stopping me from watching the 5th season. ) I’ll try to update more often, but I make no guarantees!

Is this thing on?

I just remembered that I once had a blog that was updated more than once a month. Oh well, I guess after blogging for 7 or 8 years, I do run out of interesting things to write about. My life has been pretty good. I think I’m doing well at my new position. It has a lot more hours (weekend/late night work), so hopefully my manager takes note on how hard I work even though I might not have the technical skills that most of my team members have. I wrote my first test case just a month ago. It’s really interesting to see my company’s products through the eyes of the product team, developers and my own team. It’s kind of like having a backstage pass to a concert.

Last weekend, my family finally made it to Massachusetts to see my Cousin Jane, her husband Chris and her parents. My sisters and I were given the grand tour of her new house. I love the new house. It’s so new. Oh and most importantly, it gave me a workout going from my room to the kitchen. It was great! Chris and Jane got Rockband 2 since my last visit. We played all weekend. I got up to the Medium level for bass guitar. I was quite impressed. My little sister, Jessica, turned out to be an awesome drummer. I believe she tried the Medium level on our last song. We managed to fail the song as a band the first time, but we persevered the second time around. Yay!

Oh, I filed my taxes on January 30th. I got my Federal tax refund direct deposited to my ING on February 6th even though it was supposed to be deposited on February 13th. With this new found money (it was my money all along, I know), I would like to purchase a phone with an actual QWERTY keyboard. I don’t want any touchscreen phones. I don’t care how “cool” they are. Or how “you’ll get used to the touchscreen keyboard”. I was looking into the Blackberry Bold or the Nokia E71. Any thoughts? Currently, the Nokia E71 is not supported by AT&T, but is available on online retailers such as Amazon and Newegg.com for about $330. This is cheaper than the Bold. I’ll be visiting the Nokia store in NYC this weekend with the boyfriend to see if the E71 is as great as the reviews say.

I’m off to blow my nose. I love how my nose hurts when I use a tissue. LOVE MY COLD!

2009

It’s officially the start of a new year. I can’t believe it! Last night was pretty uneventful. I am totally over the whole New Year’s Eve partying and open bar craziness. I did that one year, and it was “fun”, but I had to go to bed by 2am because I had a few too many drinks. When I’m paying $100 for an open bar, I feel a lot of pressure to drink enough to make it worthwhile.

My girls were reunited finally. One of my closest friends moved to Hawaii last April and she came back to the East Coast for Christmas. We had dinner and then attempted to make boxed chocolate raspberry cake. It did NOT work so good thing we bought a backup Betty Crocker triple chocolate fudge cake. I made it and it was a success. Yum. We ended up agreeing to watch Nancy Drew. I still can’t get over how dorky/geeky they made Nancy to be. I remember when I read all her books and I always thought she was the popular girl. Not a girl stuck in the 50s. Oh well. It was still pretty enjoyable.

I’m not looking forward to all the people who decide to join the gym to work on their New Year’s “resolutions”. We all know they won’t keep it after a couple of weeks. Why overcrowd our gym even more? Ugh. For my few readers, you’ll see that I added my Nike+ chart on the bottom right of my website. I ran my longest and farthest run just 2 days ago. Lance Armstrong congratulated me. Who knew how little it takes to motivate me?
