Letter to Mo

Dear Mo,

Why are you giving up so many homeruns this season? Why are you ruining my fantasy league? I need to have SAVES from you, not blown games! Why is your ERA 6.75? At least today, we were up 5 runs, so it didn’t really matter (except that your ERA went up even higher). Please do something about this problem. I love you so much; I can’t bear to trade you.

Sincerely,

Teresa

Day 1 Report

Hi everyone! It’s really 8:30 am 10/4/06, but I think wordpress still thinks I’m in NY. Anyway, yesterday was a relaxing day. I had some delicious 哨兵油條 and 飯團. For lunch, which I had 2 hours after my “breakfast” we went to 兄弟飯店. We had dim sum. Then my friend and I went exploring for hard contacts solution. No one in Taipei uses hard contacts and they don’t even sell the solution at Watson’s or any pharmacy store. We went to like four optical stores before we found a place that actually sold it. I also checked out Mango at Breeze Center. It’s funny that the largest size of a coat I was trying on was a US small! Lucky for me it was my size, but I didn’t really like it. I bought cute faceplate for my phone. It’s a light blue color. We had some cold tea drinks for snack. I then had dinner with my uncle at the alley around the corner. I took him to my favorite noodle place where the owners always remember me. I’m the American! She said “I haven’t seen you in a long time!” Then she told my uncle that she remembers me because my grandma took me there. Our noodles were less than $3 total. It was fantastic. We also ordered 空心菜. The vegetables were so tasty and much better than what I can get for NY for like 4 times the price. In total, our meal of two noodles and a vegetable cost $NT 150 (which is equivalent to a whopping $4.54. Also, in Taiwan, it’s not customary to tip at these little stalls/restaurants. I LOVE IT!

Now I am up early drinking guava juice and eating tea eggs (茶葉蛋) from 7-11. I’m watching 王建民 and he just put on two Detroit Tigers on to base with 0 out. This is pretty bad considering it’s only the 2nd inning! Ahh!

GO YANKEES!

Wang not so nice?

I just got back from the Yankees game. Wang Chien-Ming didn’t even pitch! Apparently Joe Torre didn’t want to risk it because the field was wet and he’d rather save him for tomorrow against the Red Sox. So there were like 100s of Taiwanese tourists here to see him. Instead they saw some rookie pitcher who wasn’t that great. After the game, everyone stayed to see Wang leave the stadium. Well, after like 30 minutes, he finally comes out, but totally ignores the small sea of Taiwanese people waving their Taiwan flags and shouting “Wang Chien-Ming!!! JIA YOU!” Haha. I can’t believe he shunned his own people. My mom said that he was just shy. Whatever! Jeter was nice enough to wave to us. Johnny also acknowledged our presence! The highlight of the game was when Matsui got a HR during his first at bat. He got a standing ovation. Being the gentleman that he is, he came back out and tipped his hat. I LOVE HIM!!

Oh yeah, the John Mayer concert was absolutely awesome. My spot wasn’t too bad until the two biggest giants in the world decided to stand in front of me. I got a bunch of weird pictures of the guy in front of me. In one picture I actually got his nostrils. It was very attractive. I deleted that picture immediately! JM sang a lot of songs from all his albums. I really wish he would perform “Stop This Train”. It’s my favorite song! When he sang “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room”, I called my roommate so she could listen. It’s her favorite song. After the song finished, I asked if she was there. She finally replied and said that she was on the floor crying. HAHA!

I got his cd today. I love how his fans keep him honest. He is great.
