Off to Japan!
Aug 20th
I will be going to Japan for the first time in my whole life in just 4 hours! I’m very excited. It’s going to be a big family reunion an yes, we’re part of a tour group, but hopefully it’ll be worth it. I’ll be in Hokkaido for about 9 days and then Tokyo for 3. After, we will fly to Taiwan to celebrate my grandpa (agong)’s 90th birthday. It’s going to be so crazy. I’ve been waiting all year for this big vacation.
Today I was officially on vacation, but my boss still called me. Oh well, I guess that means I am somewhat important on my team? Perhaps I will update this blog when I find internet in Japan.
I will be taking a lot of pictures!
How is it already August?
Aug 2nd
I can’t believe it’s August already. This summer was weird because it was so cold until just recently. Also, it has been really rainy and dreary, so I guess that’s why it seems that the summer is flying by. My boyfriend reminded me that it was time for my monthly update for my blog. So, what do I have to update my few readers about? Well, I turned 27 a couple weeks ago. I feel very old (as usual). I had a very enjoyable pre-birthday weekend. I had dinner with my close girlfriends and boyfriend at Piola. For dessert, everyone got a Sugar Sweet Sunshine cupcake. Yum! Our waiter gave us free drinks because it was my birthday. The boyfriend and I had the obligatory lunch with my family at the Peking Duck House in Chinatown. We then went to my new favorite bubble tea shop, Quickly, for some tea goodness. To top of my birthday weekend, my family and I dined at Lupa. We had the tasting menu and it was perfect. Their foccacia is divine. I must have had at least three pieces. My boyfriend tried to be sneaky and pretend he didn’t buy me a gift for my birthday. However, on Saturday, he mentioned that he had to stop by Best Buy to pick-up some cables. Then I knew he was picking up my gift! He got me a beautiful flatscreen 22″ TV! I can use it as a monitor so I can work from home more easily. More importantly, I can play my Sims 3 on a big monitor. Oh yeah, I can watch TV and movies on it too.
Ever since I’ve gotten my Banana Republic Visa Card, I’ve been buying a lot of clothes at my favorite business casual store. In fact, I’ve already received the $10 reward card twice! They keep sending me flyers telling me that I can become Luxe member when I spend $800. I checked and I’m more than halfway there. It’s sick I know.
Things I Bought Recently:
MacBook Pro 13″
Canon SD960
Numerous Banana Republic skirts/tops
Ann Taylor Loft shorts, tops and cardigan
H&M t-shirts
Banana Republic bag
I’ve been buying non-work clothes for my big family trip to Japan and Taiwan. I’m really excited! Less than 18 days until I go to Japan for 10 days! I imagine we’ll be walking everyday, so I will be wearing sneakers or comfy flats. I have asked my mom to buy OFF and sunblock because I know we’ll need it when we go to Kenting in Taiwan. I can’t wait for all the good food.
I MUST STOP SHOPPING until 8/20/09. Oh, the boyfriend and I saw 500 Days of Summer. It was really nice. It wasn’t your typical romantic comedy. I highly recommend it. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is very talented. I knew it when I saw him in The Lookout.
