Morning jump roping neighbor

It just came to my attention that I never got to share with my readers about my jump roping problem. My apartment building has thin walls and floors, so some time in October, I would wake up to my upstairs neighbor jump roping at 6:45am on random weekdays. Usually when I went to bed, I prayed that my neighbor would have mercy on me and NOT jump rope the next morning. For awhile, I was waking up at 7:30am, but my schedule changed so I had to start waking up at 7am. Waking up 15 minutes before my alarm made me a very unhappy camper. For awhile, I’d shout from my bed, but she/he didn’t hear me. What killed me was she’d only jump rope for maybe 5-10 minutes, stop and then go shower. I mean really, COME ON! I knew it was really driving me mad when I debated about buying ear plugs at CVS. The only reason I didn’t purchase them was the fear that there would be a fire and I wouldn’t hear the fire alarm!

Finally, on November 5th (I had to check my e-mails to confirm the date), I woke up once again to the jump roping sounds of her plastic rope. As soon as she went to shower, I wrote my angry note and proceeded to go upstairs and leave her a note. I do want to point out that my roommate witnessed her jump roping the weekend. I was not imagining this! My note was something like this:

Dear Neighbor,

Can you please jump rope outside or after 8am? Every time you jump rope, I wake up. It’s been over a month. Thanks so much!

Sincerely,

Your Neighbors at 4F

I ran it by my roommate before I stuck the note on her door. From that day forward, I have not heard her jump rope again. Later that same week, I came home and got my mail. This lady got her mail right next to mine (5F!) As soon as I realized this I panicked. We then proceeded to share the same elevator. I looked down and made no eye contact. I came home and a few minutes later heard stomping above me. I bet she knew I was the one who left the note! Now my roommate and I just have to deal with her stomping in her heels all day long. Who wears heels INSIDE?

The highly coveted Wii

My mom has been requesting that my sisters and I get her the Wii since October. We weren’t able to get it for her birthday since I didn’t know how or where I could get it. Finally, for Christmas, I decided it was time to find a Wii for my mom. Every time I talked to her about potential Christmas gifts, she was sure to bring up the Wii. I called Best Buy and Circuit City two weeks ago about when they will have the Wii. They both told me that they are expecting shipments the following Sunday because neither of them received any that Sunday. They suggested I call on Friday to see. So on Friday (12/14/07), I called Best Buy at 9:20 am and the sales representative said they had 151 Wiis! He took my number in case they’d be doing “call-backs”. He suggested I get to the store on Sunday at least 1 hour early. I got the same info from Circuit City, but they were more vague about how many Wiis they’d be getting. I recruited my friends and only two were willing to help. I decided to just have one wait with me because I felt like being nice. Lynne and I woke up at 6am and got ready. I sent her to Circuit City (it’s right across the street) and I went to Best Buy. Lucky for us, it just snowed and it was super cold. We kept updating each other for the next hour and half. My line already had at least 25 people ahead of me. It was nuts. I overhead that a girl who was a couple of people before me got to Best Buy at 4:30am. I was happy that I was just a couple blocks away. While I was in line, I wished that I was wearing my Uggs. I was so cold. Then it started to rain. At about 7am, I saw a Best Buy employee come outside to count how many people were waiting. Then about 30 minutes later, a guy came out to give out tickets! I was number 30. Then, they let us in at 8am and it was complete madness. They were trying to sell us any Wii accessory or game. People were biting too! All I got was an extra Wii remote since it only comes with one. Didn’t the classic NES system come with two controllers? Who plays video games by themselves these days? I presented my mom with her early Christmas gift Sunday night. I was so proud of myself. During our car ride to dinner, she said to forget about getting the Wii because she has someone else getting it for her. Whatever! I think this is the reason I am currently sick! I want to thank Jane and Chris for helping me attain this video game console. I can’t wait to go home and hook it up and play Wii sports. I think that’s the only game we really need!

In other news, my company had its holiday party at Dangerfield’s and then at a UES frat bar. I got really drunk and took a bunch of pictures I don’t even remember taking! My boss had a great time and was dancing with all the ladies. It was so funny. )

I just got back from dinner and Pinkberry. It was an excellent day. I left work early so I could rest up since I felt a little under the weather. I am so ready for the holidays.
