It just came to my attention that I never got to share with my readers about my jump roping problem. My apartment building has thin walls and floors, so some time in October, I would wake up to my upstairs neighbor jump roping at 6:45am on random weekdays. Usually when I went to bed, I prayed that my neighbor would have mercy on me and NOT jump rope the next morning. For awhile, I was waking up at 7:30am, but my schedule changed so I had to start waking up at 7am. Waking up 15 minutes before my alarm made me a very unhappy camper. For awhile, I’d shout from my bed, but she/he didn’t hear me. What killed me was she’d only jump rope for maybe 5-10 minutes, stop and then go shower. I mean really, COME ON! I knew it was really driving me mad when I debated about buying ear plugs at CVS. The only reason I didn’t purchase them was the fear that there would be a fire and I wouldn’t hear the fire alarm!
Finally, on November 5th (I had to check my e-mails to confirm the date), I woke up once again to the jump roping sounds of her plastic rope. As soon as she went to shower, I wrote my angry note and proceeded to go upstairs and leave her a note. I do want to point out that my roommate witnessed her jump roping the weekend. I was not imagining this! My note was something like this:
Dear Neighbor,
Can you please jump rope outside or after 8am? Every time you jump rope, I wake up. It’s been over a month. Thanks so much!
Sincerely,
Your Neighbors at 4F
I ran it by my roommate before I stuck the note on her door. From that day forward, I have not heard her jump rope again. Later that same week, I came home and got my mail. This lady got her mail right next to mine (5F!) As soon as I realized this I panicked. We then proceeded to share the same elevator. I looked down and made no eye contact. I came home and a few minutes later heard stomping above me. I bet she knew I was the one who left the note! Now my roommate and I just have to deal with her stomping in her heels all day long. Who wears heels INSIDE?
