Reason #50925 why I love John Mayer

Just read his latest blog dated 9/24/06. For those of you who don’t know, he totally copied Pink is the New Blog, Perez Hilton and TMZ.com. He has such a great sense of humor! )

P.S. At this time next week, I will be on a plane to TAIWAN!! )

Anxious!

I’ll be going on vacation in officially 11 days. I am so excited! I’ll be going back to TAIWAN. Yay for good food and clean public transportation. In other news, the Yankees only need to win one more game to clinch division. Last weekend, my roommate and I caught three baby mice. It was one stressful weekend. I’d rather deal with giant Taiwanese cockroaches than baby mice.

Just thought I’d give you guys a little update with my life.

Wang not so nice?

I just got back from the Yankees game. Wang Chien-Ming didn’t even pitch! Apparently Joe Torre didn’t want to risk it because the field was wet and he’d rather save him for tomorrow against the Red Sox. So there were like 100s of Taiwanese tourists here to see him. Instead they saw some rookie pitcher who wasn’t that great. After the game, everyone stayed to see Wang leave the stadium. Well, after like 30 minutes, he finally comes out, but totally ignores the small sea of Taiwanese people waving their Taiwan flags and shouting “Wang Chien-Ming!!! JIA YOU!” Haha. I can’t believe he shunned his own people. My mom said that he was just shy. Whatever! Jeter was nice enough to wave to us. Johnny also acknowledged our presence! The highlight of the game was when Matsui got a HR during his first at bat. He got a standing ovation. Being the gentleman that he is, he came back out and tipped his hat. I LOVE HIM!!

Oh yeah, the John Mayer concert was absolutely awesome. My spot wasn’t too bad until the two biggest giants in the world decided to stand in front of me. I got a bunch of weird pictures of the guy in front of me. In one picture I actually got his nostrils. It was very attractive. I deleted that picture immediately! JM sang a lot of songs from all his albums. I really wish he would perform “Stop This Train”. It’s my favorite song! When he sang “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room”, I called my roommate so she could listen. It’s her favorite song. After the song finished, I asked if she was there. She finally replied and said that she was on the floor crying. HAHA!

I got his cd today. I love how his fans keep him honest. He is great.

Things happening this week

My week in a nutshell:

  1. I got stood up on my dream phone interview. I haven’t heard back from my lady. I really hope she didn’t mean to stand me up on purpose. I’ll feel horrible if something terrible happened to her.
  2. Going to a Yankees game on Thursday! Wang is pitching and Matsui is back! I won’t be surprised to see a ton of Asians.
  3. I’m going to see John Mayer for the third time in less than a month. I managed to get tickets last night for his “NetworkLive” concert at Webster Hall tonight!
  4. Pizza party with my friends on Saturday!
  5. Read a great article about John Mayer in the new Rolling Stone magazine out on stands. I found out a little too much information, but it was interesting!

Anyone listen to JM’s new album, Continuum? Any thoughts? I think the songs are really sad and sweet. It’s apparent John’s been thinking about his life and the choices he has made. Very introspective. I like it way more than the “Heavier Things”. I already have a few favorites on the CD! My copy is coming next week via Amazon. ) I can’t wait to look at the album art/inserts!

EDIT:Pictures are here.

Favorite song of the moment

I’ve been listening to John Mayer’s latest album, “Continuum” on repeat. There was a radio leak a few weeks ago and someone was kind enough to release it to the Internet (this is LEGAL). Anyway, the album is officially out tomorrow 9/12/06, so everyone go and get it! I pre-ordered it on Amazon because it’s only $9.72 there. )

My favorite song off the CD is “Stop This Train” because it’s exactly how I feel about my life. Here are the lyrics:

No, I’m not colorblind
I know the world is black and white
Try to keep an open mind
just can’t sleep on this tonight

Stop this train
I wanna get off and go home again
I can’t take the speed it’s movin’ in
I know I can’t
But honestly
won’t someone stop this train

Don’t know how else to say it
don’t wanna see my parents go
One generation’s led the way
for findin’ life out on my own

Stop this train
I wanna get off and go home again
I can’t take the speed it’s movin’ in
I know I can’t
But honestly
won’t someone stop this train

So scared of gettin’ older
I’m only good at being young
So I play the numbers game
to find a way to say that
life has just begun

Had a talk with my old man
said help me understand
He said turn 68
you renegotiate
Don’t stop this train
Don’t for a minute change the place you’re in
Don’t think I couldn’t ever understand
I tried my hand
John , honestly
we’ll never stop this train

Once in awhile when it’s good
it’ll feel like it should
And they’re all still around
and you’re still safe and sound
And you don’t miss a thing
till you cry when you’re driving
away in the dark
just singing

Stop this train
I wanna get off and go home again
I can’t take the speed
it’s movin’ in
I know I can’t
‘cuz now I see
I’ll never stop this train

Also, today is the 5 year anniversary of 9/11. I watched part of the memorial this morning. It was really sad. I can still remember exactly what happened that day for me. I wish everyone who lost someone in this tragedy strength and love.

P.S. I had a great time in Boston. Thanks Jane. I helped her redo her site. It’s so nice now. WordPress > Movabletype! )

My obsession needs to stop!

The concert was great. Most of my pictures came out pretty crappy because we were kind of far. I figure it wouldn’t be worth uploading to my site. He sang quite a few of songs from his first album, “Room For Squares”. I realized that he must REALLY love “Why, Georgia” and that is why he sings it at almost every concert I’ve been to.

I was determined to buy tickets to John’s concert in NYC, but unfortunately my two attempts failed. First, on Monday, the ticket people seem to have forgotten there was a pre-sale at 10am. I waited until 11am and gave up. I then found out early Tuesday morning that the tickets went on sale at 11:40am. GRR. I had another chance this morning at 10am (another pre-sale). I logged in and as expected, there were no tickets. I found out an hour later that they would be selling them at 12pm. I waited until noon to try again. I put in all my information, but stupid ticketweb.com wouldn’t accept my password (it was too short or something stupid) and by the time I had everything ready, all the tickets were sold out. So I guess it really wasn’t meant to be. ( Maybe John will have another NYC concert soon. Who knows?!

I’ve had a pretty crappy day, so I think I will just go to bed now and hope tomorrow is better. I went to the US Open night session last night, so here are the pictures. I can’t believe we stayed there until 1am! We are so crazy. At least we got to move up really close at the end. I hope everyone had a good Labor Day weekend!

P.S. Another reason not to take Fung Wah to Boston. I’m so glad I didn’t decide to be cheap and sacrifice my life to save a few bucks!
