I just finished reading this article on NYTimes.com. It’s a bit disturbing.
One scary fact is that 14% of Asian children in New York are obese. Isn’t that crazy. Later in the article, they mentioned this Chinese baby who’s first word was “Mother”, then “Father” and then “McDonald’s”. I also found out that more and more Asian children are dining at the fast food joints in Flushing (McDonald’s, Burger King, KFC, Joe’s Best Burger) rather than the conventional Asian restaurants. I find that surprising because whenever I’m in Flushing, I don’t even consider the “American” restaurants. I can get that anywhere! Plus, I’m not a huge fan of fast food.
I really hope I don’t develop diabetes. My grandpa has it due to old age, so I guess I may have a chance of getting when I’m older. I’m going to keep on going to the gym so I can be as healthy as I can.
Lastly, I’m officially addicted to Project Runway. Everyone should watch it. It’s on at 10pm (EST) on Bravo. Heidi Klum looks so cute pregnant too.
Okay, well it’s Thursday, which means it’s almost FRIDAY! Yay! I better get to bed. :tired:
Thats interesting. Almost all my Asian friends are slender. When we went to Japan the only real big people were the Sumo Wrestlers. Same thing when i went to Taiwan.
BTW, Tag your it! Time to get you back!
wow, there are obese asians? they’re so few and far in between, at least in my experience. maybe it’s a new york thing. they say it’s like a completely different world.
i hate fast food, unless subway counts. i never eat at mcdonald’s too because, well, it’s gross. same with KFC. and the rest just don’t taste good. except for harvey’s and A&W. but i try not to eat there. i miss chinese food, i wish i could cook…
I’ve got diabetes in the family too
I just hope I don’t get it either.
And soon it’s weekend again :bouncy:
Hope all is well with you. Have a great weekend!!!
a lot of my nieces and newphews knew how to say “McDonald’s” before many things. McDonalds markets so aggressive toward young children.
I am in danger of developing diabetes too. both my parents have it and we just found out a few months ago that my oldest brother just developed it.
Whenever I’m in Flushing, I definitely only think about the Chinese restaurants. I wouldn’t want to go the fast food restaurants there either, since, like you said, they’re everywhere else.
Where are your updates?
