Division Champs for the Eighth Year!

I doubt anyone expected this to happen (even myself), but the Yankees managed to win another American League East Championship! I had no idea that we were this close in winning. The announcers kept describing all the different situations for the Yankees, Red Sox and Indians. Then I found out that with a NY win and a Cleveland lost today, we would become the AL East champions! At first the Indians and White Sox were tied at 1-1, but then Iguchi from the White Sox hit a 3-run homer and made it 4-1. The Indians scored two more runs, but could not do anything else. The Yankees had a few home runs (Sheffield, A-Rod and Matsui) and great defense by Sheffield and others. Randy Johnson had a tough first two innings, but he settled in and came through with a well-deserved win. ) Gordon did his regular by allowing a HR and Mo closed out the game! Awesome awesome game.

As for yesterday’s game, I don’t think Taiwan’s pride and joy, Wang Chien-Ming did that terrible. He only gave up 5 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings. Compared to what Moose accomplished against the Orioles on Tuesday (5 runs in 1 and 2/3 innings), I’d say that Taiwan is still pretty proud of their baby!

Anyhow, I’m really excited. I had no idea that the Yankees could clinch the division today. What a surprise!! :bouncy:
