Happy Autumn! I believe today is the autumnal equinox. I can’t believe it’s already time for the leaves to fall down. I have been neglecting my journal because I really have nothing to tell my few readers.
I just wanted to remind everyone that the season premiere of “Lost†will be on today at 9 pm (EST). I’m really upset that both “Veronica Mars†and “Lost†will be on at the exact same time on Wednesdays starting next week. I won’t know what to watch! I heard that even if you have TiVo, you cannot TiVo something while watching another show. How pointless is that?
Work has been pretty relaxing. Today is a bit stressful due to some mistakes I made. Hopefully things will look up. The Yankees are only 0.5 game back Boston and Cleveland, so there is still hope! I better get back to work!
YOu can tivo 2 shows at once when you have the Directv tivo…
also there are some DVRs through Comcast etc that allow you to tape 2 at once.
Veronica Mars is going to be awesome this year!
The statement about TiVo is incorrect.
DirecTV receivers with TiVo, aka DirecTiVo, have two tuners and you can record two programs at one time, or record one and watch a second.
All standalone TiVos have one tuner and video input, however, this still does not limit you. If you are using analog cable or an antenna, and feeding RF directly into the TiVo, then you can place the TiVo into sleep/standby and it will bypass the RF signal from input to output. So you can connect the RF output to the TV and use the TV’s tuner to watch a second program while the TiVo is recording something else using its tuner.
If you have an external cable box then the normal way to handle this is to place an RF splitter on the line upstread of the cable box. One branch goes into the cable box which then feeds the TiVo. The other branch connects to the TV. Then the TiVo can tune and record any channel, while the TV can tune in any analog channels. (Nearly all ‘digital cable’ systems are really analog cable for channels up to 100, and digital only on channels over 100.)
Of course, you can always get multiple TiVos, and with them on a home network you can move shows between them, or to/from a PC as well.
Teresa said: Wow I stand corrected. Too bad my roommates and I don’t have TiVo or that DVR stuff.
Thanks for all the info!
Do you have cable tv? You could check with your cable tv provider to see if they offer a DVR. It’s not a bad price, if you split it 3 ways.
Why do you never answer your cell phone!?
haha. WE never have autumn here on Guam. Its either wet or dry.:bouncy:
