Back to the gym

I gave up looking for a gym membership on craigslist.org. The girl who was selling her membership lied to me and basically had a membership in Hoboken, but only told me when I called her back. She also told me that I couldn’t transfer the account to a NY location. How lame is that right? Today, I after work I went to the gym to ask about memberships. As usual, I went on the tour of the premises. The gym guy was pretty cute, and I decided I might as well join because he already started to fill out the paperwork. Who actually says no after all that trouble? I certainly don’t want to come back and go on the tour again! The good news is that now I can go work out after work. I’ll be fit again!:-P The highlight of the tour? There are personal TVs on each cardio machine!! What a life. )

My roomies and I watched “Beyond Borders” and it was a really depressing. After watching that movie I was so depressed because I didn’t see why I should be living when all these other people are suffering and living such dangerous and sad lives. Tonight we watched “A Lot Like Love“. It was just the movie we needed to pick up our spirits.

Anyhow, this week has been pretty good at work. No disasters (besides the Monday thing). I’m glad it’s almost the weekend. D Have fun guys!

Is this possible?

I had a pretty decent weekend. I overloaded with seafood. I never realized how much I’d miss shrimp and fish. I’m not a big seafood eater, but after having two meals where every course had some kind of seafood, I think I should be set for until the end of September. ) I was in Boston this weekend and my cousin, Jane was kind enough to let my sisters and I stay at her lovely house. We didn’t do much, but I definitely enjoyed their TiVo. She also introduced me to the dangerous world of Veronica Mars. It seems like a good show, so maybe I can try to catch up with the rest of the season.

Today, there was a small IT emergency, but it was okay. I dealt with it pretty well I thought. I met with my boss and he informed me that I would be getting a raise since I’ve been doing such a great job! I’ve been dying for a raise. Ever since I moved into the city, money has been scarce. So many bills and rent! Now I think I can probably join a gym and stop being so lazy and inactive. This will be good! I’ve missed the gym so much. )

In other news, I’m about to head off to a Yankees game. Let’s hope Jaret Wright doesn’t have a game like Randy Johnson. shock

My weekend in summary

Things I did this weekend:

  1. Watched an entire Yankees game where Jeter and Bernie homered! I loved when the screen said “Bern baby bern!” Oh yes, and they won!!
  2. Had brunch with the family at Eleven Madison Park. I enjoyed my chocolate souffle dessert very much.
  3. Had my first Whole Foods pizza. It was pretty tasty!
  4. Spent a night dancing with 320598 people.
  5. Got dragged into playing softball by my roommates. It wasn’t too bad, but catching was hard!
  6. Melted everytime I set foot outside.

So I really think stores leave their doors open in order to attract customers. As soon as an innocent potential customer walks past the doors and feels the cool air, he or she will be sucked into the store and make a purchase. Oh yes, I just want to say that Macy*s at Herald Square is so crowded on the weekend. I waited 10 minutes to use the bathroom and it was disgusting. I don’t plan on using the bathroom there ever again.

So how were your weekends?

Relaxing Weekend

Wow it’s Sunday already? It’s amazing how time flies when you’re doing absolutely nothing. I woke up yesterday rejuvenated. I had a small meal and then decided that it was time I start getting some type of physical exercise. I was determined to go outside for a “run”. Keep in mind that in my vocabulary, run means a combination of jogging and walking briskly. I discovered there is a jogging/biking trail near the river by East End. I walked up to 79th Street and discovered an entrance to this place. I ran from 80th to 63rd Street and back uninterrupted by traffic lights or by a leering audience. Today, I repeated my run and only heard one car on the FDR honk at me. Score!! I also saw two broken down cars on the FDR at around 3:45 pm. There were a ton of angry drivers waiting for the cars to be cleared.

Last night, I went to Chinatown for some good cheap Chinese food with my friend Tony, his friend Barbi and my sister, Diana. We had some great juicy buns and delicious homemade noodles. It was really good even though it was quite a walk from Canal Street. Also, I was determined to bring Tony to the famous Chinatown Ice Cream Factory. I have been craving passion fruit ice cream since the day I was lucky enough to have some over a year ago. To my surprise, there was a label that said passion fruit so I was ecstatic. I ordered my passion fruit ice cream and to my disappointment, the employee told me that they were out of it. I asked him when in the day did they go out. And he said that there’s no specific time. I guess next time I will have to go super early in the day to get me some of that delicious ice cream. I’m sure when I finally get to have it again, it won’t taste as great as I remember it to be.

On Friday, I attempted to make scallion pancakes without a rolling pin or enough counter space. I succeeded, but I did not put enough salt, and this is second most important ingredient (after scallions of course). I documented my journey in scallion pancake making with my camera. (It was the only excitment of my Friday night).

Here are some pictures:

My perfect pancake.

My pancake sizzling on the pan.

All in all, it was an unproductive, but great weekend. I hope you guys enjoyed the sun. )

The week is finally almost over

I’m so excited that it’s Thursday. I hope it’s better than the crap Wednesday I had. I don’t know why I got so upset at work yesterday. I think I just felt overwhelmed. I am the first person to ever doubt myself. I just don’t know how everyone thinks I’m capable of doing so many mini projects. I must have fooled them.

I hope I don’t melt on the way to work. It’s going to be another hot one!
