Last weekend consisted of a lot of good eating and movies. On Saturday, my family and I went to Eastern Noodles, this hole in the wall restaurant in Chinatown. There was a review in the NY Times about their delicious noodles. I got their famous Beef Noodle Soup. I saw the chef make the noodles in front of me. The service was very quick and I enjoyed my noodles very much. After that tasty meal, we walked around Chinatown and bought some cheap vegetables. I found a great deal for green onions. Eight bunches for $1.00! How amazing is that? Back in Pittsburgh, I could get one bunch for $0.75.
After we walked around for about thirty minutes, we got hungry again and went to have dessert at Chinatown Ice Cream Factory. I love this place because it has exotic flavors like almond cookie ice cream. Last time I went, they had a really yummy passion fruit ice cream. This time they didn’t, so I settled for green tea. Mmmm! I love ice cream so much.
Sunday, my family and I went to eat dim sum at my favorite place, Gum Fong. It was delicious as usual. My friend who met us at the restaurant was sweet enough to buy us a dozen of the famous H and H Bagels. My mom was very excited and after we got home, we decided to try it out. It was chewy inside yet a bit tough on the outside. It had the perfect mix of chewy and hardness. I was in love. Too bad their stores are located uptown, which is way too far for me. Maybe next time I visit my friend in the Upper East Side, I’ll buy more bagels. They are opened 24/7! These bagels were mentioned on Sex on the City on more than one occasion. That must mean they’re really good
Now to the movie section of my weekend. On Friday, I went to see Hitch with my little sister. I heard some pretty good reviews about the movie. I left the movie pleasantly satisfied. I wasn’t expecting an Oscar award movie, but rather an entertaining movie. I have always enjoyed Will Smith’s movies because of his sense of humor. Kevin James’ role in the movie was a surprise. I’ve never seen him in his TV shows, so I never knew that he could be funny as well. If you’re in the mood for a romantic comedy, this movie will fulfill your needs!
On Saturday, I went to see Million Dollar Baby. I have been wanting to see this movie for a very long time. I was really hyped to see it due to all the Oscars it won. Also, I was curious to see my first Clint Eastwood directed movie where he is actually in it. I expected a very dramatic and serious movie, but I was surprised to find that even Clint Eastwood has a sense of humor. There were some definite moments during the movie where I laughed out loud. Even so, this movie is indeed a drama, and during the second half of the movie, I really became attached to the plot and the characters. Honestly, I had no idea what would happen at the ending. It could have gone either way. I think that’s all I can say about the movie without spoiling it for you guys!
On Sunday, due to our excess amount of green onions, I decided to make homemade scallion pancakes. They turned out quite wonderful. My little sister told me that my pancakes were better than any pancake in Flushing or even Taiwan!
She gave it a 10 out of 10. Why is it homemade things taste so much better? I love making homemade dumplings because they taste so fresh and healthy. I should make those next time I decide to get off my big butt and contribute in the kitchen.
In boring news, I got a raise at work, but this means I have to start coming in at 7 am. I also have to work 1 day on the weekend. I don’t mind working on the weekends since I lack any social life. I think I will have a hard time adjusting to waking up at 5 am instead of 5:30 am during the week.
Anyway, speaking of work, I should definitely go to bed now. By the way, thanks for all your suggestions in fighting spam. So far so good, I haven’t been bombarded with any poker comments yet!
Good night! :tired:
i miss chinese food. i didn’t think it would happen since it was boring considering i had been eating it for 18 straight years. but now that i’ve been living on my own and not cooking asian-ly i’ve developed to hankering for homemade food. and in my home that’s chinese food. mmm dumplings….

It’s just flour, water, scallions, oil and salt. That’s about it!
