Happy New Year!

Xin nian kuai le! I was planning on posting this earlier today, but I was really busy at work! Yesterday my family and I went to the Peking Duck House for dinner. It was delicious. I had some great duck and food. Mmm.

Before my big family dinner, I decided to get a haircut. I went to this place called Jean-Louis David, which is supposed to be a “cheap” hair salon that doesn’t require appointments. I went to the one near Union Square. The receptionist told me that it would be $23.50 for a cut without a blow dry. I agreed to this and then she sent me to the hair dresser. Her name was Dolores. She washed my hair and then proceeded to cut my hair with an electric razor. After she finished, I thought she would use scissors to clean up the cut, but instead she whipped out the hair dryer. I was a bit confused with why she was doing this since I had said earlier that I did not want a blow dry. Since this was my first time at this hair salon, I then thought that maybe a “blow dry” meant with a lot of product and like actually styling the hair. I thought since she was just blow drying my hair any which way, it came with the cut. Well, she finished drying my hair and I went to the front to pay, and then the receptionist told me that it would be $45.50. I was surprised because I thought I had gotten a regular cut. I told her that I said I didn’t want a blow dry and that I wasn’t aware that this was the “blow dry”. She then said, “Well you could have told her to stop”. I ended up charging it to my credit card since I didn’t have enough cash. I’ve never spent so much money on a crappy hair cut. I think I will be going back to my mom’s salon. At least there I know what I’m getting for my money. At least they use scissors over there!

Okay, I had a really long day at work today. I hope you guys saw the cool logo at google.com today. Tomorrow is Thursday. OC night!! D

  1. Hey, girly! It’s good to be back. ) Grrrr…I would’ve been so PISSED! There is NO way I would’ve paid that. I would’ve paid the amount you agreed to, gave a tip, and left. On top of it…I would’ve complained about the haircut. They are supposed to make YOU happy. I would’ve also gladly told them I’ll never go back nor recommend anyone there. This is why I’ve been going to the same hairstylist for 6 yrs. I love her so much. She’s dope. I wish I was there so I could tell them off for you! <3

  2. Mia, this is the 4th time I’m commenting on my own site. Argh stupid comment spammers! The only reason you didn’t see your comment once you posted it because I screen all my comments because of all those poker spammers! mad

Anyway, my hair stylist was so rude. She must have said 10 words to me during my hair cut/wash! She was busy chatting it up with her buddies in Spanish though. Now I’m upset I even left her a tip. I was just worried they would get mad and like start fighting me. Haha. How much tip should you give to your hair stylist (given that you are thoroughly satisfied with your cut)? I never know how much to put. I wish I could find a good hair stylist in NYC. I’m almost willing to go to one of those super expensive salons during their “students” night. At least the cut will be cheaper, and I hope these hair styling students know more than Miss Dolores. Maybe they’ll actually use SCISSORS!!:stressed: I’m so glad you’re back Mia!! cool

Hunni, like I told Mia, I screen my comments so that’s why you couldn’t see any of your comments. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for visiting my site! Happy New Year to you too. I visited your site and it’s really cute. I plan on going back soon. -P
