House of Flying Daggers

I just would like to say that I’m not the only person in the world who thought House of Flying Daggers was a big let down. I wrote a “bad” review on NYTimes.com. I don’t know why this movie keeps getting praised for being so beautiful and perfect. Did everyone forget the original true masterpiece?

Dear Mr. Zhang Yimou:

Please stop making these Chinese martial arts movies with a romantic storyline. It’s been done before successfully, and you’ll never be able to achieve the same great result. Also, please stop using Zhang Ziyi in all your movies. She might be pretty to look at, but she’s starting to be typecasted for these fighting movies. Lastly, please stop wanting to be Ang Lee. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Teresa

P.S. The only reason I sat through the entire movie was because of Takashi Kaneshiro. At least you found an appealing guy for the female audience. Now for your next movie, try to think of a creative storyline that hasn’t been used before.

Busy like a bee

This week totally flew by. I was given a very crazy priority list this week. I had to complete nine menus (which is a lot). Along with these menus, I had to do a lot of revisions on my old menus. They were stylistic changes, but they were very time consuming to complete.

Somehow I managed to complete all 9. Isn’t that crazy? My bosses were quite impressed as well. ) Life is good. Today my friend and I are going to Jackon Hole for dinner. I did their menu, and I remember drooling heavily while doing it. They have like 30 types of burgers and all these other things. I hope it’s as amazing as their menu looks. After dinner, we’re going to go see Meet the Fockers. I’m not expecting a quality movie, but rather just to be enteratined. D I loved the first movie, so we’ll see how the sequel matches up.

I just realized why my smileys weren’t showing up. I must have deleted the smiley folder when I upgraded. Have no worries, they are back now! ) I’m going to have Monday off due to Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It’ll be pretty nice to have a three day weekend for a change.

Oh yeah, I did spinning this week, and it’s getting easier. I tried to do Body Works on Tuesday and I had this crazy sub instructor who made us do like a million lunges and squats. After spinning, my legs were very sore. I thought about walking out of the class at 8:15 (it starts at 8pm). That would be rude though. I ended up walking out during the ab section of the class. Hehe. I enjoy spinning because I know I’m really doing a lot of cardio for my heart. Hopefully my butt doesn’t get too large. I’ll keep you all posted about the situation. )

Lastly, this week’s weather has been pretty crappy. All the local weather forecasters have been very off. For example, they said it would go up to 62 degrees Farenheit yesterday, and when I went home yesterday it was pretty chilly! Today, it dropped about twenty degrees from 49 to 29. Crazy huh? I’m glad I wore my big eskimo coat to work. On Tuesday or so, they said it would be high 52, so I wore a light pea coat, and boy was I sorry. I think from now on I’ll be wearing my big coat if it’s cold in the morning. I don’t care if it goes up to 80! Okay, I better start walking. Have a great weekend!

Life is good

Well I had a pretty good week at work. I got to catch up with some of my college friends this weekend. It was nice seeing everyone. It’s kind of strange to see everyone wearing work clothes and talking about their jobs. I knew this would be coming, but I still feel like a little kid. This whole work thing doesn’t feel “real”. It’s scary to know that this is what I’ll be doing for the rest of my life until I retire. I’ll work five times a week and then all my weekends will fly by. I’m lucky enough to find a job where EVERYONE is friendly and I’m not just another person in a cubicle. Everyday is always a new challenge. Although I may be one of the youngest employees, I know that people know that what I do is extremely important for the company. Without me and my office mate, there would be no point to the company. )

Anyway, in other news, the Jets beat the Chargers last night. It was pretty amazing I must say. Next week they’ll be playing the Steelers. GO STEELERS!! In bad news, I hear the Mets got Beltran. RAWR!! My friend who also is a diehard Yankees fan was telling me that we don’t need Beltran and that we have plenty of offense. I would have to disagree with him. Our offense is either on or off at each game. There is never time where they can just score a few runs. Either they score a ton, or they score none. It sucks. I wouldn’t mind having Beltran on our team. We need all the help we can get. Oh well, I just hope our batters will be able to perform under pressure. They definitely CANNOT fall apart like they did in October. (

Lastly, I would like to link to my friend’s John Mayer pictures she took at Webster Hall. My pictures all came out like crap because my flash is not strong enough. I want a new camera just for my concert picturs. Wah. Here are the wonderful pictures! Enjoy! Good night.

John Mayer!
