Happy New Year!

Well, I feel so terrible for dragging my friends to see John Mayer on Wednesday night. We waited to get into the venue for about 2 hours. Then we waite about another hour before his opening act came on stage. It sucked so much. As much as I love John and his guitar playing skills, I know that I will not be attending anymore of his blues concerts. It’s just too much time commitment and he only sang one of his own songs. I guess I should be happy that he even sang a song from his CD even if it was “Come Back To Bed”.

I have a question for you guy readers (actually I only know of one male reader). Is the bathroom line the place to pick up girls? I have had many encounters with guys while waiting to use the bathroom or even just waiting for my friends near the bathroom. It seems very strange that guys will try to hit on me there. I’ve just noticed that’s where most guys will approach me. Strange isn’t it?

As for the earthquake/tsunami tragedy in South East Asia, I saw some footage on CNN and it really breaks my heart to see all these people left with nothing. It completely blows my mind to know a natural disaster can take away so many lives. The last time I saw the count of the dead, it was 114,000. That is unbelievable! I definitely am going to donate money to one of the emergency funds. I even convinced my little sister to donate $5 to the cause. According to the UNICEF USA site,

$5 can provide an emergency health kit for one person for three months, with medical supplies and drugs to cover basic health needs.

$87 can provide a basic family water kit for ten households, with detergent, soap, wash basin, towels, bucket and water purification tablets.

$188 can provide one “School-in-a-Box” kit containing basic education supplies for 80 children during times of crisis.

Isn’t that kind of amazing? You guys should definitely consider donating anything to one of the funds. During his concert, John Mayer said a pretty meaningful thing, “Doesn’t Mother Nature make a war seem so silly?”

So true.

I’m really excited about doing New Year’s in NYC for the first time in my life. I don’t plan on ringing the New Year at Times Square though. Only crazy people and tourists would do such a thing. As of now, I don’t really know what my friends and I will be doing, but I’m sure it will be fun. This is the first time that my college friends came out to NYC to celebrate. I can’t wait! The only bad thing is that I still don’t have an outfit for tonight. I’m thinking about venturing out to the crowded H&M at Herald Square during my lunch break. Or maybe, we’ll get out early so I can shop.

I hope everyone has a great and safe New Year’s Eve. The next time I’ll be posting will be in 2005!

My Eskimo Coat

I don’t really have time to write anything meaningful, but I thought I’d show everyone my Christmas gift:

Now I’ll never be cold in NYC.

I will give you guys the Cliff Notes version of how I finally got this coat.

1) There were two of these coats at Roosevelt Field’s Macy’s
2) I went to Bloomingdale’s to browse some more. They did not carry my size.
3) I went back to Macy’s and the coats we no longer there.
4) I tried on an extra small hoping it would fit (at Bloomingdale’s–other side of the mall!). With a sweater, it would be too tight.
5) I went home and ordered it online at Hudson Trail.
6) Received an e-mail the next day saying they were out of stock.
7) Called Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s in the city. Only Bloomingdale’s cared to pick up and help look for this popular coat. Final outcome? They only had Large and Extra Large.
8) Ran to Herald Square to find the coat at Macy’s. Could not find it.
9) Dad went to Macy’s at both Flushing and Rego Park. Could not find it.
10) As a last ditch effort, my dad went to Macy’s at Manhasset and FOUND IT!

Now I am a happy camper. I came back from my workout and saw a big bag in the backseat. I WAS SO EXCITED. I’m going to wear my coat everyday even when it’s 50 degrees.

By the way, I was so stressed out at work because of this coat and all the work I need to get done before the New Year. Hopefully tomorrow will be much better since I am the proud owner of this marvelous down blanket/coat. )

Good night!

Merry Christmas!

Even though I don’t really celebrate this holiday. Just found this picture via images.google.com.

Merry Christmas!

Have a great one guys! )

Happy Birthday Dad!

Just wanted to wish my dad a Happy Happy Birthday! It’s not easy to share your birthday with Christmas Eve. Thank you for being so supporting and driving me to the subway station everyday at 7 am. ) I really appreciate it!

To everyone else, I hope you guys have a great Christmas if you celebrate it. If you’re like my family, go enjoy the crazy sales on Sunday. I’m really looking forward to it. D

It’s Officially Winter!

Today is the first day of winter (I believe!). On Sunday night, we got our first snow. Lucky Long Island picked up a couple inches of snow. My father and I shoveled the snow before we left for work. I ended up being about 25 minutes late for work, but that’s okay because I made up the lateness by staying later. Also, no one else was here at 8:30!

I had a good weekend. I went out with my friend Grace. I finally met up with some fellow CMU alumni. It was nice. I don’t usually go out more than once a month because I’m usually too tired and going into the city is such a pain for me. I’d rather just be antisocial! )

I got a new cell phone. After my phone accidentally called my dad at 4 am, I decided it was time to try a flip phone. We’ll see how that goes. Samsung’s menus are a lot more confusing. Maybe it’s because I’m so used to Sony Ericsson’s menus. The ringtones are cooler on this phone though.

I better get back to work. Speaking of work, we got free food again yesterday. I really think my company should require everyone join a gym. Otherwise we’ll be come fatties!! )

Upgraded to WP 1.2.2

I upgraded to WP 1.2.2. I don’t notice a difference. It was kind of hard for me to upgrade too. I must admit it’s not as easy as upgrading MT, but it still wasn’t impossibly hard. This version should be more secure. We’ll see about that! )

Off to Costco. Have a great weekend of shopping!

Too Much Food!

Yesterday I inhaled an excessive amount of food. Not only did I have birthday cake at work, my company was surprised with a free catered lunch by one of our catering vendors. This lunch featured a “Make Your Own Taco” with shrimp, chicken, or beef. It also had a huge fruit platter that was DELICIOUS, a great dessert platter and chips and guacamole. It was soo good. After my huge lunch and cake, I went home and had another huge carb infested meal at my sister’s school’s holiday party. The ingredient of the night was PASTA!. There were about 6 dishes that used some kind of pasta. It was good and I was stuffed. I also had more cookies and cake. It was a crazy day.

Because of all the food I ate yesterday, I decided to wake up at 5 am and go to the gym so I could feel a little less guilty. Tomorrow I plan on eating a salad for lunch to balance out all the carbs and calories my body took in this week. I feel gigantic!

In other news, I have a feeling that the OC won’t be on until next year. I can’t believe they teased us with what is coming up in the next 12 episodes. How crazy! I still want to know what happened with One Tree Hill. I think I’m going to hit the sack soon. Tomorrow is payday; at least I won’t be in for a surprise like last time. )

Great TV on Thursday

I watched some great quality TV on Thursday. I watched the OC and I was totally surprised when I found out some more drama/crazy stuff going on in the plot. For those who haven’t seen the show yet, I highly recommend you do. I’m on the edge of my seat and impatiently waiting for next week’s episode. It better be good. Speakin gof TV, any one know when “One Tree Hill” will be back? As usual, they left me hanging during the last episode. That stupid high school reunion show has replaced “One Tree Hill”. I really hope it’ll be back soon.

Once again, I will talk about John Mayer. This will be my third consecutive entry about him, but what can I do? I am obsessed! I’m not sure any of you care or know that John Mayer had a TV show on VH1. It was quite entertaining and I even taped it (Taping means using an old school VHS tape and a VCR to record a program). He was so funny. My favorite sections were the “Focus Group” and his time he spent with Trick Daddy in Nashville. Haha. I never knew girls could be that gullible. You guys should definitely try to catch his show. I’m pretty sure VH1 will be repeating it like 235098 times just like they do with “I Love the 80s” and “I Love the 90s”. )

Today I went to the gym. It was an overall good workout. I did about 32 minutes of cardio and about 20 minutes of weights. I still wonder why my body is over 1/4 fat. What am I doing wrong? (

Grammys

They announced the Grammy nominations. I’m pretty impressed that Kanye West has been nominated for 10 Grammys. He must be happy now. I remember he was bitter when he wasn’t nominated for any AMAs or other music awards. He’s got his payback now. )

John Mayer was nominated for two surprise Grammys. “Song of the Year” and “Best Male Vocal Pop Performance”. I’m kind of surprised considering his new single, “Daughters” gets no radio/tv time. Also, the single just came out a month ago. Interesting! I doubt he will win because he’s in a lot of competition for the “Song of the Year”.

I’m Going To See My Hubby!

It’s official! I’m going to see John Mayer on December 29th. YAY! I’m so very excited. I’m bringing two my friends. I have one extra ticket; I don’t know who to give it to. I don’t think I know anyone who would be willing to watch John perform the blues. I’m soo excited. I didn’t even have to wait when I purchased the tickets at noon. It was quick and painless. ) Good night!

What A Weekend!

Okay, I’m about to go to bed, but I decided I’d write a quick little entry. So, where should I begin? Well, on Friday, I attended my little sister’s Asian Night event at her high school. When I was in high school, I also participated in this event, and it was interesting to see what happened to it after 6 years. Wow, there were a lot of changes. The food at the dinner was no longer mainly home-cooked. Everything was take-out and there were half as many dishes as before. What a letdown. The dances were okay. Chinese Yo-Yo and Lion Dance were still in it. The high school students either became older and sluttier or maybe I’m just getting old. I just know that when I was 14, I was not wearing skin tight pants that barely covered my butt. My sister’s dance, “Indian Modern” was actually very good. I liked their costumes and everyone seemed to be very synchronized. I was pretty impressed!

On Saturday, my mom, little sister, and I braved the crowds and went to Roosevelt Field Mall. I was on the mission to make a big investment in the famous Seven Jeans. I went to Bloomingdale’s first. I tried on about ten different pairs of Seven Jeans. I felt very fat. Anyway, I found this pair of unique Seven Jeans, and I was excited to try them on. I got them up and they weren’t overly tight (which is a good thing). My big butt managed to fit all the way in without cutting off any major arteries and veins. Then as I went to button up the jeans, I noticed there was NO BUTTON!! After this disappointment, I returned all the too small and long jeans to the lady at the fitting room. This lady was very irritable, so I tried to stay out of her way. I went back and looked for the right size for this particular style. I was lucky enough to find the perfect size and I ran back in to try it on. PERFECT! The problem with this style is that it was about $20 more than this other style that also fit (but NOT as well). I debated about which pair to purchase. I then decided to call my mom, who was at Macy’s. She told me she was meeting my sister there at 4 pm so she couldn’t come over. I decided to hold the two pairs of jeans at the cashier. I then ventured into Nordstrom’s to try on more jeans. To my disappointment, there was not a large variety of Seven Jeans. In fact there was only one style! When I asked a salesperson about where the Seven Jeans were located, and she told me, “Oh you don’t want to go try those on! I got a new shipment of Chip & Peppers. Come look!” Well before yesterday, I’ve never heard of that brand name, but I knew they must be pretty high end. As expected, the prices were even more expensive than Seven Jeans. The lady then said, “You don’t want to wear the same jeans as everyone else. You don’t want to have that same squiggle on your back pocket! (she was talking about Seven Jeans). Anyway, I tried on a cheaper pair of Chip & Peppers, and they were about 4 inches too long. I felt like a midget! After our late lunch at the food court, my mom, sister, and I returned back to Bloomie’s, and I gave my mom a little fashion show. She agreed that the more expensive pair was nicer, and after 10 minutes in line, I finally bought the most expensive jeans of my life!

After I came home, I was happy to find that my jean style was not available on eBay. It turns out that the style was made exclusively for Bloomingdale’s! Woohoo.

In conclusion, I spent A LOT of money this weekend.
New MAC foundation, lip glass, lip pencil, and shea butter cream: $62
New pair of Seven Jeans: $171.83
Grand Total: $233.83

That’s a lot for me considering the government took $200 from my paycheck on Friday. I am so poor. Oh well. I’m usually not a big spender on clothes, but I thought it was time to invest in jeans that didn’t show my butt crack whenever I bent over. Don’t get me wrong, I will definitely still be wearing my Gap and American Eagle jeans, but I will be enjoying a new pair of high quality jeans as well!

Besides my big shopping spree, I just finished cleaning up my room. I took out about 5 bags full of garbage from my tiny room. It is so clean now. I am so happy. I threw out all these old camp letters I saved. I figured I don’t even talk to these people anymore, so why keep the letters? Haha. I’m pretty heartless I know. Anyhow, it’s taking me way too long to post about my boring life. It is WAY past my bedtime. So I bid you readers good night.

Lost

Wow, I watched the latest episode of “Lost”, and it was pretty awesome. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, the writers of “Lost” have to throw a curve ball. I’m really excited for next week’s episode. They better have some good answers on what exactly is going on!

Last night I didn’t watch “The Amazing Race” due to my gym class that ends at 9 pm. I came home and it was already 9:10, so I decided to eat dinner and shower. What a mistake! Not only did I miss a great episode of Amazing Race, but I also missed an exciting episode of “One Tree Hill”. I can’t believe that my life basically revolves around work, gym, and TV.

Speaking of work, today I spoke with one of my big bosses. She just wanted to make sure I don’t feel ignored or whatnot at work. She also complimented me about my work. It really made me feel good that people are noticing what I do. Don’t get me wrong, I love what I do, but it does get stressful at times. ) I also sent out a mass e-mail to my whole company about some shopping coupons, and people actually replied and said thanks! It was pretty cool. My company rules!

I’m thinking about going to the gym early tomorrow morning (5 am about) because I didn’t get to go to the gym on Saturday. I need to make up my 4th gym day. I don’t want to go tomorrow night because the OC will be on! It’s sad that I schedule my gym workouts according to my TV schedule.

In NBA news, the Knicks are about to win (I HOPE) their 6th game out of 7 games. Can you believe their record is above .500? This is the first time in a very long time. This is AWESOME! Time for bed. Good night my readers.
