Good Vacation

I had a very good relaxing vacation. There was a lot of good eating and shopping. Even though I don’t really need anything except nice jeans to wear to work, I ended up buying some stuff just because there’s no sales tax in Massachusetts. I bought a new pair of New Balance sneakers and a nice shirt at Gap. Other than that, I didn’t really go crazy. I wish I had more time to find a nice pair of jeans that doesn’t show my butt crack whenever I bend down. I’m really sick of all these super low rise jeans. Do guys find butt cracks that attractive? I always feel so self-conscious about my butt crack being seen in public. Oh well. Anyone know of good jean brands for big butts and big legs? I tried Diesel jeans at Woodbury Commons, but they were kind of tight. I later found out I had tried the “slim fit” style. It takes so much time to find the “perfect” pair of jeans. I’m really lazy and I hate getting my pants hemmed, but I might have to since all these jeans seem so long. I’m also looking into Seven and Citizens for Humanity jeans. I can only afford one pair right now. Hopefully I can wear the same pair over and over and no one at work will know. Haha!

I went to the gym yesterday and today. I feel so much better that I did. I really need to burn off the 32509853 calories I collected over the past 5 days. On Saturday, I had tons of popcorn when I went to see “National Treasure”. The good thing is that I only do that once in awhile. By the way, that movie was quite good. If you want to see an action movie, then you should see it!

I haven’t followed the NBA ever since the Knicks started sucking. I just started to get back into basketball this year. To my surprise, the Knicks are doing pretty well (so far). I really like this new guy, Jamal Crawford. He seems to be helping a lot. Anyhow, it’s already 10:39 pm. Time for bed. I have another BUSY day at work tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m at Jane and Chris’s house right now. We are cooking up a storm. I didn’t have time to write about the wonderful Ari Hest concert. All I have to say is that Shirley and I had really good seats/standing places. We were in the second row! Go check out my Ari Hest pictures.

Happy Thanksgiving. I hope everyone eats a whole lot. I have to go walk the chihuahuas. )

Bridget Jones Diary: Edge of Reason

Despite the “bad” reviews of this movie, I really enjoyed it. Call me a sucker for chickflicks, but this movie entertained me so much. I love Bridget Jones because she seems so “normal”. She deals with the same issues that girls do. I do admit that I have a soft spot for Colin Firth. Does anyone else find him to be pretty attractive? For those looking for a funny movie, I recommend you go see Renee at her fattest. It’s quite amazing to see her as an average woman. Usually she is stick thin.

In other news, I attended a company party this weekend with my friend. Good thing my friend pitied me and came along. Otherwise, I would probably be standing in the corner at this awkward event. I only have a three day work week. YAY for Thanksgiving! It’s been rumored that my family and I will be going to a famous sushi place in Massachusetts. I’m pretty excited. Tomorrow I’m going to go see Ari Hest at Irving Plaza. I’m pretty excited. I hope everyone else had a good weekend!

I love shopping…

I’m going to Trader Joe’s later today. I’m really excited because I absolutely love that store. The food there is so good and cheap. It’s like a cheaper Whole Foods. Everything is so fresh and organic. I guess I might be biased about TJ’s because I did a paper on it. I know the whole history about this store. If you guys live near a TJ’s, you should DEFINITELY go. They usually have samples for shoppers. One time I had a piece of a raspberry torte. It was so good, I ended up buying two. Haha.

In other news, I think I need to buy some new clothes for myself. I think I deserve a little treat. Also, since everyone at my new job wears jeans, I think I need more casual clothes. Perhaps I’ll go shopping on Black Friday when I’m at 0% tax Massachusetts. Speaking of Turkey Day, what are you guys planning on doing? I just found out yesterday that we get the Friday after T-Day off. I’m so excited. This means I can go to Boston with my family and join the food festivities. I get to see my cousins! Jane will be letting my sister(s) and I stay at her house. It will be nice. We’ll be cooking on Thursday. I hope everything goes well. I hope we coordinate everything so we eat a reasonable time, rather than at like 10 pm on Thursday. Haha.

One of my new co-workers is having a birthday party in the city. A lot of people have asked me and the other new worker if we were going. I really don’t know if I should go since I don’t really know the co-workers that well. Plus, wouldn’t it be weird to be out on a Saturday night with your two new bosses? I wouldn’t want to make a fool of myself and get fired! Maybe if I can find someone to go with me, it would be better. We’ll see if I go.

I have cardio kickboxing at 5:45 pm. I can’t wait. I feel like a big fat slob. I need a good hard workout. ) Tomorrow we’re going to go see the second Bridget Jones. I hope it isn’t too bad. I want to see so many new movies, but I don’t have the time. Current movies on my list are: Garden State (still), the Incredibles, Polar Express, American Treasure, and a lot more that I can’t remember right now.

Anyway, I have to go. I hope this update was adequate enough to satisfy your needs. )

Happy Thursday

I can’t believe I’ve been working here for four days already. I admit that there is a lot of work, but it’s been pretty exciting. Eight hours flies by when you’re busy working. This is a complete opposite with how my temp job was. I remember how I used to spend hours just browsing the Internet at that job. Now, I barely have time to do anything. It’s pretty cool to have people ask me to help them out. I feel useful. Anyway, you guys must be wondering how I have time to update. Well it’s my 15 minute lunch break. I thought I would reward all my hard work with a short little blog. Well here it is guys. We get to have birthday cake at 4 pm. Woohoo! )

My weekend in the ‘Burgh

I’m pretty tired now, so I just wanted to give a short update about my weekend. I had a great time with my CMU friends last weekend. I never realized how much I missed my school. Steffa and I survived the 7+ hour trip to Pittsburgh in the dark. I-80 is such a scary highway to be driving late at night. There are so many trucks and no cars. It’s pretty intimidating. I was the navigator/map girl. I did my job well. We looked for Roy Rogers to eat at for dinner, but the only one we knew of was in Breezewood. We ended up settling for Arby’s. Mmm! I ate a lot of delicious/unhealthy food that weekend. My friends had a Thanksgiving pot luck, and there was SO much food. Grace made a 20 lb turkey and it came out so good. We were pretty impressed with ourselves.

I started my new job today. I’ll try to give you guys the details tomorrow. It started out badly, but I think it ended pretty well. In other news, I’m up to using 2 rises in my step aerobics class. Who’s hardcore now?! )

Good night! D

Quote of the Night

My family and I dined like the rich and cultured at Manhattan’s swanky (at least I think so), Fleur de Sel (“Flower of Salt”). We had the tasting menu. I had my first caviar and venison ever in my life. I told my mom I was going to give her the rest of my caviar since I was not a big fan of it. Our waitress saw me struggling with the caviar, and then came to clear our plates. She asked me, “Did you not like the caviar?” I answered, “Oh, it was my first time. I tried it though.” I knew from this moment on I would be shunned by her and her co-workers. Oh well, at least I was honest. I did have one entire clump. It was disgusting.

Back to the point of this entry. The quote of the night came when my younger sister said, “Are those blueberries on your plate?” as she pointed to the paddlefish caviar. I tried to control myelf from bursting into laughter. Since when did blueberries get so small? HAHA.

We had six courses of beautifully placed and cooked food. I really liked my lobster bean salad. The venison was different. I thought I ordered it medium, but it still seemed pretty rarish to me. I only ordered the venison because I heard from a few Chowhounders that it was really good. I guess I’m not your venison type of girl. I think the ultimate highlight of this three hour event was the dessert. We were given two delicious desserts with ice cream. I preferred the first dessert which was a pear thing on a butter cookie with hazelnut ice cream and hazelnut on the pear. It was really good!

This weekend I’m going back to Carnegie Mellon. It will be an interesting time since I will be back as an alumna. I really want to go to the Alumni House and share a few things on my mind. I have time on Friday, so maybe I will! Anyway, I’m going to have a great and cheap time in Pittsburgh. How I’ve been longing for some half-priced food and dirty cheap drinks. )

Happy 30th Anniversary!

Dear Mom and Dad,

I just wanted to wish you a great 30th anniversary. I can’t believe you guys have been married for 30 years. That’s almost more than half your life. It must be amazing to be able to live with someone for that long. I hope I can find someone to share my life with like you two have. Thanks for putting up with three daughters. You guys are real troopers.

Love,

Teresa

What a day

I spent 7 hours trying to get John Mayer tickets today. I did not succeed unfortunately. If I was truly a crazy fan, I could always purchase a pair for a mere price of $1499 on eBay. At least he is having a concert sometime in December. I’m definitely going to that concert if it kills me.

I had two interviews today. I’m never going to agree to do that again. So tiring. I admit that by the end of my second interview, I really had nothing to say. I felt like I was wasting the interviewer’s time. I obviously wasn’t the right fit for the position. She actually asked me if I had experience with promotions, even though it was not mentioned once in my resume. Oh well, I’m just curious why she called me for an interview. At least my first interview went a lot better. I really think the two girls who talked to me liked me. I just hope they call me back for a second interview. I would be so psyched. Their company is so interesting. It’s a new company; started up in 1999. It was ranked the #4 fastest growing private company by INC. magazine. It’s pretty amazing just how fast they are growing. Anyway, I’m not going to put all my eggs in a basket just. The job search must continue. By the way, I don’t get Black Friday off. When am I supposed to do all my Christmas shopping? I swear I hate Wall Street!

Now I’m going to go read Watermelon, I love chicklit.

Lastly, I added another level to my step during my step aerobics class. I got a great workout. I love it. For those who comment on my website: yes my comments are screened. I do this to prevent spammers from spamming my site. I will approve your comment if it’s non-spam, just give me some time. )

Just a clarification

I just wanted to say that the purpose of the Moby quote entry was because I needed something with a lot of text and I think Moby sums up my thoughts pretty well. GW claims he will unite everyone in his second term. I really cannot listen to anymore of his lies. It would be great if GW is successful in removing American troops from Iraq within his next term. I won’t be surprised if we’re at war with another nation though. Any guesses who our next target is? The good thing is, I’m pretty sure whoever is elected in 2008, can’t be half as bad as GW. I wish Mr. President good luck in uniting all Americans. He has a lot to prove.

YAY!

I’m finally done converting to wordpress! Awesome. )

Quoted from Moby’s site

‘dear canada,
now, more than ever, your neighbor to the south(aka-the blue states)needs you. most of us living in the northern and western parts of the united states don’t feel very connected to the rest of the u.s, so can we bring our states and become part of canada?
we have a lot of money and some interesting cities and we promise not to be too much trouble.
the benefits to you:
a-in one fell swoop you can have southern california and new york city! surfing in canada! suddenly the u.n is on canadian soil! broadway is suddenly in canada! you could then say that canada is the birthplace of jazz and hip-hop!
b-money. cold hard cash. the red states in the u.s might have the voting power, but guess who has the money? yup, your friendly neighborhood blue states.
so when/if you accept our offer you will instantly become the richest country in the world! that sounds pretty good, right?
c-karma. accepting this offer will give you more good karma than you’d know what to do with(because you would instantly make 120 million people VERY happy).
so you get warm beaches, tons of cash, and good karma. who can say no to that?
please let us know if you accept the offer. given our enthusiasm to join canada it’s safe to say that the details of the offer could probably be worked out in an afternoon.
thank you very much,
moby

p.s-just to put your minds at ease, we do know that we can’t bring our assault weapons with us.’

Thursday!

Thursdays are so long. I usually am too distracted about the weekend to even concentrate on work. If anyone noticed, I decided to change my site font to Georgia. I hope you three readers have that font. I’m pretty sure Macs have it as well.

Not much to talk about. I’d rather not talk about the Presidential Election. I voted for Kerry, if you guys didn’t know already. I’m just happy that so many young voters registered for this election. All my friends ended up voting. I think this is a huge step forward. I really just wonder if America is ready for a Democratic female presidential candidate for 2008. As much as I respect Hilary Clinton, I really do not think the South and Mid-West will support a female president.

Okay, back to work I go. I think I should put up a new layout one day. Maybe I will start 2005 with a HOT NEW layout! Just kidding. I’m not even sure if I remember how to use Photoshop and Dreamweaver anymore. )

Have a great one!
