Things I did this weekend

Basically, after I started my temp job at a large global investment company, I have been pretty busy. Last summer prepared me for the “working life”, but this has been worse than expected. I wake up before the sunrises (over 1.5 hours). In fact, my dad and I see the sunrise while we’re commuting to work. Isn’t that great? ) The week seems to crawl by until it reaches my favorite day, Friday. My weekends fly by so fast even though I might just stay home and do nothing. Sunday nights are the most depressing because I know what’s going to happen the next day. It’ll be the start of another exciting week at work. Yay.

I’ll get back to the point of my entry; which is to just ramble about my exciting carb gorging weekend. On Saturday, I woke up early so I could get my workout before I went apple picking and gorging myself with bad bad carbs. I figured this might counter what I would be eating for the rest of the day. I went to my step class, and I noticed that I was probably the youngest person in the class. This is because no sane 22 year old would agree to wake up at 8 am to go to a gym class! Crazy. Anyway, I felt proud to represent my age group in this middle-aged step class. After an hour of fun step aerobics, I returned home and showered. Then, my family began our trip to Warick, NY, town of apples. By the time we got there, it was already noon. We decided to try the famous Apple Cider Doughnuts. It was freezing upstate, so I got a hot apple cider. Wow, it was so delicious. After warming our stomachs, we went to go pick apples. I was envisioning all the tasty Fuji apples I’d be eating while I picked them. To our disappointment, the orchard was pretty much all picked out. The only apples they had left were: Empires, Braeburns, Red Delicious, Ida Reds, Jonagolds, and Cortlands. After what it seemed like hours, we finished picking our two bags of apples. We then headed to the farmer’s market where I happily found bags of Fuji apples. I bought 1 peck of apples even though they were highly overpriced. I guess it beats picking them from the tree and stepping on rotten apples. I also bought a nice apple pie.

We left the orchard around 5 pm and looked for a light late lunch. We found a diner and had our meal. We then headed back to Diana’s apartment since we’d be dining like the stars that night. Lupa is this really well-known restaurant in NYC due to the fact of it’s famous co-owner, Mario Batali. Most people will know him from all his shows on Food Network. I actually found him to be quite annoying. He seemed pretty cocky when he cooked, but hey if he makes delicious food, why not go to one of his famous restaurants! Lupa was very good. My mom is obsessed with Chowhound and researched this restaurant very thoroughly. What I really liked about the restaurant was that the portions are normal sized. It was a bit weird to get pasta dishes and not be over-whelmed by a whole lb of pasta. This is how real Italians eat, according to my sister. She told me that in Italy, there are hardly any obese people even though they eat pasta so often! The reason? It’s the portions! It was a pretty decent meal. Did I mention that our reservation was at 10:30 pm? We didn’t finish dinner until midnight. Then we headed back home to the island. I was quite full, so I didn’t go to sleep until pretty late. )

I’m preparing for yet another interview, and I was wondering what current commericials/ads you guys love or hate. I’ve asked a few of my friends and for annoying ads, I’ve gotten: Subway, Old Navy, Dr. Scholl’s, McDonald’s and Mentos.

For good ads I have: Sprint PCS ads (check them out on their website, Apple iPod, Arby’s. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I should really go to bed now. By the way, Green Day’s new album, American Idiot, is great. I love the first single and a number of other songs. Good night.
