Quizno’s

Today, my sister and I woke up early (before noon!). Why you ask? Well, I was determined to go to Quizno’s for lunch. Last weekend, I saw some coupons for a new low carb flatbread sandwich. Although I could not find the coupon anymore, I was determined to try out this new low carb lunch. Last night, I went to the Quizno’s website and found its menu and then discovered just how many different sandwiches they offered. I decided to get the Smoked Turkey without the fatty and carb sauce. My mom decided to get the Spicy Monterey Chicken. My sister and I arrived at this restaurant/deli at around 12:15 pm and there was a huge line. I figured it was lunch hour. All these business people were there waiting to get their lunches. I figured that this place must be really good if there were so many customers. I ordered my flatbread sandwich. My sister got a sub. She was surprised to find that they toasted the bread. After about 20 minutes, we had our lunch. We even decided to combo up a meal so we could try these new soy protein chips. I was expecting soy chips, but they were like healthy Doritos. The flatbread sandwich was much more filling than Subway’s teeny low carb wrap that consisted of 2 pieces of meat. I waited in line again to get my mom’s lunch to go. The lady next to me informed me that it was her first time here. I said that I’ve only tried the flatbread sandwiches and the salads, and they were both pretty good. She told me that she was amazed with just how many people were here. She also told me that Subway was right across the street. Wow, talk about competition! All in all, my sister and I agreed that Quizno’s was definitely better than Subway. I plan on going back there; just not during lunch hour. ) Everything tasted a lot fresher. I guess toasted bread just makes the entire sandwich better.

It took me awhile to finally get to my mom’s office. I have a fear of making left turns. My younger sister just kept telling me to make a left turn, like it’s that easy! There was no light to make the left, so basically I would be turning into incoming traffic. It was quite stressful. I ended up a block away from my mom’s office, and decided we’d just park in a side street, and then walk to her office. We arrived after 15 minutes. What an adventure. We stopped by the supermarket to pick up some more delicious strawberries and white nectarines. Then we stopped by our library to get some books for our trip to Hawaii and Taiwan. Four days until paradise! I can’t believe it! )

What a glorious food weekend

From the subject you can tell that I will be talking about one of my favorite subjects: food. Where should I even begin? Well, my family went out for dinner on Friday to celebrate my younger sister’s great work on her finals. She was allowed to pick any restaurant; to my surprise, she picked Minado, which is this super-expensive seafood buffet. My sister loves sashimi and sushi, so this is one of her favorite restaurants. I love the seaweed salad there and its hibachi grill, so I was pretty excited. Also, since it’s so expensive, my family and I don’t got there too often. For Friday dinner, it’s $25.95 per person. My younger sister was very upset with the sashimi, and said that she hated it. I tried my favorite seaweed salad, and to my disappointment, not only did they add noodles to it, it was super-sweet. Anyway, all in all, my family came to the conclusion that the quality food at Minado has definitely fallen. I’m kind of disappointed. Also, for a Friday night, the restaurant wasn’t very crowded at all. Given that it is a huge restaurant, I remember when it had just opened and there were always a wait.

On Saturday, I finally got to see Harry Potter 3. It was very good, and my sister and I agreed that it was better than the first two movies. I liked how Hermione stepped up and started to be more aggressive. ) After the early movie, my family went to the new Legal Seafoods next to Roosevelt Field. The service was exceptional as usual. I ordered baked scrod, and it was quite tasty. We ordered their famous crabcakes, and it was delicious. I love their crabcakes. I love how all their seafood is so fresh, and how polite they are to the customers. It’s really a very nice restaurant. Even the bread is really tasty. I was strong enough to not have any bread, since my sister was going to make cookies for me later that day.

On Sunday, my family and I went to eat at Gum Fong restaurant in Flushing. It used to be called KB Garden. It has really good dim sum during the day, but during dinner they have Cantonese style food. My mom ordered all this delicious food. She ordered my favorite soup, West Lake Beef Soup, Chicken Chow Fun, Crispy Chicken, and a lot of other seafood dishes. It was so good. I’m surprised I didn’t gain 23598 lbs from this weekend’s little food fest.

In other news, I will be going to Hawaii in 5 days! How exciting is that? Then after a week in sunny Hawaii, I will go to Taiwan for a month. I probably won’t be updating my site that often since I won’t have any Internet access.

Oh, my older sister gave me some clothes her friend didn’t want anymore. I found out they were from BR, but then the sizes were a little to small, so I thought. I tried them on and I could fit in both items of clothing! I was really excited. I think BR sizes run big or something. I’ve never fit into a size 2! What an accomplishment. I hope it could also be my new healthy lifestyle. Working out 4x a week is good!
