One of these days…

I had a pretty relaxing weekend. I went to see The Prince and Me. I didn’t have high expectations of it because it’s another chickflick with the typical storyline. I admit I enjoy my share of these movies, but it gets old after awhile. Also, it makes me wish I had a Prince Charming in my life. I guess it’s okay for a girl to dream about that. Besides the movie, I didn’t do much on Saturday.

There has been a lot of talk about my school’s newspaper, The Tartan publishing a very offensive April Fool’s issue where they offend Gays, Lesbians, and African-Americans. There was a rally on Saturday because in one of the comic strips, the N word was used. The editor-in-chief said that he did not see the comic before the newspaper went to press. The person who drew the cartoon said that it does not express his own personal views. What bullshit. If you want to read about this, here is an article on the Post-Gazette. Here is the article on our online newspaper, The Carnegie Pulse. We talked about this issue in my international relations class. The question dealt with the freedom of speech and the effect of culture on society’s actions. I found out that the Admissions office had a bad weekend dealing with all the press about this issues. Parents were coming up to them and asking why they should send their kid to CMU if they allow such things to be printed.

Anyway, rather than go on about this whole thing, I think I’ll go watch Ellen and eat my lunch. Adios!
