as expected, my professor talked about the iraq conflict again last night for two hours. we did not have our quiz that i studied for. what a surprise. i’m a little worried because i have to write a 20 page paper about whether russia is a superpower anymore. oh dear. anyway, i’m going to enjoy my spring break because when i come back, school is seriously going to suck a lot. eww. two more days!
in a more serious tone, how many of you watched gw’s address to the nation last night? mtv even aired it! grr. i wanted to watch my sorority life 2 and fraternity life. the only time i stay home so i can watch that show, and bush has to make his war speech. after writing my paper about the uk’s position on using military force to disarm iraq, i have realized just how horrible saddam hussein is. as much as i hate to see civilians killed due to this war, maybe this is the best thing for iraq right now. in 1938, the u.s. and the uk could have done something to keep germany’s adolf hitler in line, but instead they appeased him and what happened? hitler became powerful and world war 2 happened. rather than repeat that same mistake again, i think it’s good that the united states and 30 countries have decided to take control since the un seems to be a failure at this moment. i hope it doesn’t turn into another useless league of nations. ok well, i’m kind of sick of this whole war talk. i just hope everything works out as planned, and hussein is finally dethroned. his dynasty is over, and i hope he realizes how greatly he screwed his nation over.
[edit]by the way, i was anti-war before taking my international law class. i used to think gw wanted war because iraq tried to assassinate his father. i still don’t like gw as a president, but i guess this is the best solution for now.[/edit]
