happy new year in advance!

my cousins, sisters, and i went to watch “lord of the rings” last night. it was 9 bucks per ticket! geez since when did movies get so expensive? diana told me it was because we were at a stadium seating theater. we were worried the movie would be sold out at 11:45 pm, but we were lucky. there theater was empty. haha. jessica decided she would sit a row behind us by herself. we had no idea the movie would be so scary and violent. i kept checking behind me to see if jessica fell asleep, but she didn’t. i think it was too loud for her to fall asleep. alice went to sit next to her in the middle of the movie because it was pretty scary and violent. haha. who would have thought. i was kind of disappointed with the “ending” if you could even call it that. i guess i should go read the next book to know what’s going to happen. maybe i’ll read the entire trilogy during my break. i bet the books are taken out at our library. maybe i’ll buy them. nahhh. =p well i guess that’s it for now. we’re going shopping later.

blogger was down today (12/26/01) so i wasn’t able to blog about my adventure coming home from massachusetts. i don’t really feel like going into detail what happened, but i will give you guys a short summary. haha. so my dad gets on the interstate. we are on our way home. it’s about 4 pm or something. alice, diana, and i are all cozy in the back of the stationwagon. then i feel our car slow down. i look to the dashboard and some light turns on. my dad says something and he begins to pull over. we are then on the shouler of the interstate. my dad turns off the car and then tries to start the car again. nope. doesn’t work. he turns on his hazards lights and opens the hood and tries to find out what is going on. about 10 minutes later some car pulls up. out walks this guy in a fisherman’s vest. us girls in the back get a weird feeling. maybe it’s because we’ve seen i know what you did last summer. all he needed was a hook. he talks to my dad. we start talking in taiwanese about this “strange-looking man”. then this man comes into our car and tries to turn it on too. it didn’t work. anyway, my dad calls triple a and the guy finally leaves. wheww. about 30 minutes later, the tow truck arrives and so does the mass turnpike emergency guy. he takes my mom, alice, jessica, and me to a toll booth while diana and dad go to the garage. diana has volunteered to stay at my cousins’ house until the car is fixed and then drive it back to new york. the emergency guy tells us he’s going to drop us off at this toll booth. first we think oh good, we get to stay somewhere warm. then he starts talking about how we’re just going to stand outside. my mom asks if we can go inside, and he’s like well you have to ask the toll booth people, it’s not my responsibility. then he’s like well there are two phone booths here, so you can stay there. weirdo! so my dad convinces him to drop us off at the nearest service area. we stay there waiting for my dad to call us. thank god for cell phones! haha. i have no idea what we would have done if we didn’t have them. so to keep a long story short, we take my uncle’s car and drive it home. diana will drive him, his wife, and our cousin this weekend since they were already coming anyway. we finally get back on the interstate at around 7 pm. we don’t arrive at alice’s apartment in nyc until 12 am or so. we then stop by in flushing for our super late dinner since everywhere in connecticut was closed when we wanted to eat diner at around 8ish. hmm. so that’s what happened on christmas day! what a day that was.

i just finished watching “memento”. i got it as one of my christmas gifts.. it was really good, but i’m really confused about what exactly happened. i’ll have to discuss the plot with my friends to make sure i grasped the whole thing. haha. the constant circling of things happening confused my family. my dad and jessica gave up with the movie and left. my mom and i watched the whole movie. we were both confused at the end. i was less confused so i tried to explain to my mom what i thought happened. haha. i told her i’d get back to her. so if any of you guys have seen “memento” email me and tell me what happened. haha. ok thanks! ;D wait i can’t check my babblicious email. leave me a comment or something. thanks

well i was wrong. one computer is fixed. we have a new pentium 2 300 mhz computer! woo, it is so speedy compared to our pentium 1 166 mhz computer. haha. we also have a bigger hd. woo more mp3s. haha. nahh. so i woke up at 1 pm today. damn i didn’t know i could sleep that much. apparently i can since there are no disturbances in the house. i spent soo much money today. i am so broke now. i’m not even done shopping. i have to get my mom something. argh. when i go back to school i have to buy books! ack. i didn’t even buy anything for myself. i know no one will like my gifts. they will just have to return them. at least i tried to get something they wanted! i already wrapped all my gifts. i am so tired. =( i just realized that i can’t check my babblicious.com email because i forget how to set it up. i’ll have to ask merlin if i ever get the chance. well, i’m going to boston tomorrow with my family. we’re going to be there until christmas. woohoo. we’re going in our super old buick stationwagon. yay. i won’t be surprised if it breaks down half-way there. ok i better tend my laundry. good night!

This blog actually pertains to Teresa’s page, so I’m very excited about writing this. I dropped off a take-home exam with my professor this evening, and I actually found him at the office. I handed him the final and we got into a conversation. (This guy likes to talk — he talks about his family, his clients, the news, but rarely about the class, even in class!) I mentioned to him that I used to attend CMU and that I took my financial accounting (intro to) class at CMU. He is my managerial accounting professor. He asked which professor I had, and I answered Ijiri, who is Teresa’s professor too. It turns out my professor had lunch with Ijiri back in 1990 when he was visiting my university. My professor (who I have kept nameless and will continue to) had some interesting things to say about him. Ijiri is fairly well known for his triple-entry accounting technique and even wrote a book on it. My professor, who was a working CPA at the time, felt that this technique was purely academic and had no pertinence to real-world accounting — ouch! In addition, he has not used it once in the 11 years following the lecture. During the lunch, he was impressed by the meal that Ijiri and the other CMU professor got; apparently, it was a big lunch. He said that Ijiri eats his soup very loudly! He makes loud slurping noises as did the other CMU professor. I can’t decide if this is a CMU thing or a Japanese thing — but you gotta love those noodles, right Teresa? hahaha

ok so i haven’t really blogged about anything as of late. yesterday ashley, lynne, julyan, grace, and me went to pamela’s for brunch. it was my first time at this famous pancakes restaurant. i was excited. the problem was that i didn’t have any money and i was too poor to withdraw from a national city bank. i get charged for using their atm! so i came up with the genius idea to go to rite aid to buy something and then ask for cash back. yay! anyway so we wait for a table, and finally we get to sit down. i had ordered hotcakes and over hard egg. my order comes, and i add butter because that’s what i always do. i didn’t know they already added butter in the batter. the hotcakes were good, but i got sick of it after the first pancake. haha. i felt my arteries clogging up. it was soooo buttery. i don’t know if i can order regular pancakes there again. i might have to get a different kind, or i might just order french toast. after that long meal, my friends and i decided to go shopping in shadyside. i didn’t buy anything for me, even though it was very tempting. i refused to be swayed! i need to save money to buy presents for my family. after that we came home at around 4ish. i took a 2 hour nap or something. grace called me and we went to kentaco hut for dinner. mmm. kfc biscuits rock! after that we were stuffed and came back. both times we had perfect timing for the bus. it was quite impressive. i tried going to the gym at 10:30, but it was already closed! grr. stupid finals week. all the hours are different now. ok so i came back and decided i wanted to watch a movie. i downloaded “serendipity”. it was really cute. i wish real life was like that. i liked the happy ending too. it made me more positive about life. maybe it’s not so bad in being single. oh well.

i woke up today at around 12:30 or so. i bought lunch and before i knew it, it was time to meet julyan at the library. i took my time so i was late. she was made, and left the library before i even got there. hehe. i studied for my opti exam from 3-6 pm. not bad eh? then i went to the uc to buy dinner. then i went to julyan’s apartment to return her umbrella. then she leeched all the stuff i studied off me. asked me all these questions. blahblah. anyway, after being used, i said i wanted to go home. i did do some additional problems, and i wanted to go home. i talked to tania on the phone. she had just started studying for econ. i asked here where grace was because she wasn’t online. i was surprised. then the phone rings and guess who it is? it is grace. her computer won’t turn on! argh. her dell computer has so many problems. grace does not know how to keep her computer working for more than one month. i don’t know what she does online. ugh i’m supposed to go see if i can fix it. argh. i’m really putting it off. maybe she’ll forget that i’m coming. i don’t know. well i’m all studied out for opti. hopefully i will do ok on this exam. i’ve studied like 4 hours for it. i can study some more tomorrow. the material on the exam doesn’t seem so hard. it’s not even a final. it’s just a regular exam. anyway, i’m done babbling. i’m going to watch bbmak on mtv. oh yeah i’m sick. good night!

hello my friend we meet again! haha that’s from creed’s semi-new single, “my sacrifice”. it kind of bothers me that all their songs are somewhat related to christianity. i know the lead singer, i forgot his name, but his dad was a reverend or something. i know his family was super religious. i saw his special on vh1. anyway, i’m at work blogging. what a bad girl i am. =( anyway, i’m probably not going shopping this afternoon. i might just take a nice relaxing nap. sounds good to me! =)

i’m done with two finals! philosophy wasn’t so bad. i kind of freaked out on the last two questions because they were on the most recent readings and i had not studied them thoroughly. i managed to pull some stuff out of my ass. hehe. i hope i do ok. stats was ok too. as usual there were some minor problems, but i think i got a b. yay! after my stats final i went to the gym to work out. i ran for 30 minutes. i almost ran 4 miles. woo. life is good. i should have done laundry, but i guess i’ll do it tomorrow. i get to work tomorrow. hurrah! :/

i chilled last night. it was cool. i baked cookies for my friends again since my cookies are the best. i talked to on of my good high school friends last night. it was pretty cool. i haven’t talked to her for such a long time. we’re going to hang out during break. hehe. she said i have to call her =p. i’m excited. i haven’t seen her since april. hmm. nothing really happened after work. i went to my philosophy group meeting. i showed my group my stuff, they were surprised i typed it all up. haha. they must think i’m a geek. i thought we were supposed to type it up. oh yeah i made a powerpoint presentation. it was exciting. hehe. my first one! =) it looked really nice until my group leader took it and changed it :/ boohoo. it’s ok, i had fun making it. after i got back to my room at around 5 pm, i ate a quick dinner and then my friends and i went to watch lynne’s gospel choir concert. it was cute. they were pretty good! well, i just woke up. actually i woke up at 12:30 pm. it was so nice. i’m so happy i have no stats lab or opti hw to do. it’s exciting. well i’ll blog more later.

one more class to go. i probably will not be doing anything exciting tonight since i need to work on my philosophy presentation. grr. the work never ends. i have my stats and philosophy project due on monday. i did not do so hot on my chinese test. i was the first person to have my oral exam with yu laoshi. it sucked. oh well, at least it was informal. i lack chinese vocabulary to say the things i want to say. anyway, opti is next. then i’m going to come home and take a long nap and pretend this week never happened. hehe. i’ll blog more later tonight when i am procrastinating. =/ tgif (i guess!)

blogger can suck me. it broke on me, but it’s all fixed now. i’ve been trying to post the previous blog for like 2 hours. grrr!

i took my philosophy exam. it wasn’t that bad. i hope that i got an a. i took a 1.5 hour nap and it was a nightmare. i dreamt that i did bad on my philosophy exam. then i dreamt this guy was chasing me. it was terrible. :/ i’m glad that it was just a dream. my stats class was cancelled today because my professor was too sick. julyan thinks i made him sick with my constant emails on saturday night. haha i’m so powerful. our homework isn’t due until wednesday! at least i’m done with it. hip hip hurrah. anyway, i’m really bored. i didn’t do any of my homework today. i want to relax. haha. i’m such a bum. well i’m outties. tv is cool!

Ok, I’m throwing in a peek at my world here since Teresa has asked me to share. I run twice a week for four miles outdoors; well I try to. I do it because I want to stay in shape, but also to break conformity with the image of the typical system admin. In any case, as you may know the east coast is experiencing some uncharactersticly warm weather for this time of year. It was 65 degrees where I am today. I ran around dusk, and it was starting to cool down. My route is on a low altitude road (almost sea level) with a lot of trees and fields. As I was running, I realized that the temperature was changing. I would hit pockets of humidity and heat, and then one minute later I would hit cold air. The contrast was startling. In any case, it made the run interesting.
