i’m back in pittsburgh. :(

i’m back in pittsburgh. ( i had to wake up at 5:45 a.m. today so i could get to the airport two hours in advance. la guardia airport was pretty empty at 6:45 a.m. there was a small line, but i soon discovered that since i booked an e-ticket, i could check-in using one of the e-ticket kiosks. it was pretty cool. within five minutes, i was done and i already checked in my one piece of luggage. i checked in before my dad got back from the parking lot! that’s how fast it was. anyway, since only ticketed people can wait at the terminals, my dad and i sat near the check-in lines and chatted. i was pretty tired and just wanted to go sleep, but my dad insisted on staying. so after 30 minutes or so, i finally convinced my dad to go home. he said he was going to eat breakfast in flushing. go figure! hmm, so how was my thanksgiving break? in general i’d say my break was pretty good. i didn’t do much. i hung out with some friend on wednesday, and that was about it. of course of all the days wednesday was super cold and i had to be in the city. lucky me huh? thursday was turkey day (duh). my dad and i went to flushing to buy some chinese appetizers for our thanksgiving dinner. since my dad knows the owner of this chinese restaurant, she gave us some free dishes. she gave us a seaweed dish and a soup noodle. my dad told her that i loved their noodles, and then she asked me what kind i liked, and i told her i liked beef noodle soup. before i knew it she already told a waitress to get me an order! crazy. so we got home at around 5:30 and i ate my noodles. dinner wasn’t ready until 8ish, and by then i had already digested some of the food. i ate sooo much food! after that strenuous meal, i had to lie down on the familiy couch and watch tv. i did not feel any better until 12 am or so. it was pretty crazy.

on friday my family and family friends went to k.b. garden for some delicious dim sum. if you guys have no idea what dim sum is, go drool over these pictures. dim sum was sooo good. i convinced my mom to order some beef chow fun. it was yummy. ) after dim sum, we went home and then i decided it was time to get my film developed. to my disappointment, i would not get my pictures until monday, and by then i’d be back in pittsburgh. the lady at genovese (now eckerd’s) was really rude, so i decided not to get my film developed. what’s another month going to do? jessica and i decided we’d go shopping. i drove my dad and her to the mall. we strolled around and there weren’t that many good deals. i bought myself a sweater at express only because i needed to replace the holey gap sweater that i loved so much. hmmm so that was friday. friday night i attempted to do homework and procrastinate. it was pretty pointless.

saturday was the worse day of my week i suppose. i had a dentist appointment with a new dentist. since i already fear dentist appointments, going to a new one after going to the same dentist for over 15 years is a big change. the new dentist asked me when my last x-ray was. i told him that was a very long time ago. the only time i got x-rays was when i needed braces or had to get teeth pulled out. in my entire life i’ve had two x-rays. anyway, this surprised my new dentist and therefore he took x-rays. to his wife’s amazement, i had cavities, so he decided to take x-rays of my entire mouth. the receptionist (wife) made loud noises outside of the examination room. “wow she has so many cavities” (in taiwanese). i was very confused because i have had 0 cavities for 5 years straight, how could i get so many cavities in 5 months? anyway, the dentist kept asking me dumb questions like, “do you drink soda? i said no. he continued to ask me the same question, and again i said no. then he decided to ask if i drank any juice. again i said no. then he asked if i like to eat a lot of chocolate, and again i said no. do you notice a pattern? then finally as a last resort, he asked me if i liked to eat a lot of crackers. i said not really. he probably thought i ate candy for every meal or something. i drink like one soda a year, so it’s definitely not the soda. anyhow, after a long lecture of how to brush my teeth and how to do dental floss, my nightmarish dentist appointment was finally over. the dentist concluded that i had at least $1000 worth of cavities and that i might as well to taiwan and get them fixed since that is cheaper. i can’t believe that! my mom really wants me and her to go to taiwan during my three week winter break to get my cavities filled! ( for once in my life, i am not excited in going to taiwan because i’d rather stay home and relax. i know that after my finals, all i want to do is watch tv or hang out with my friends. i will probably stay in taiwan for two weeks, so that means i’ll only have one week at home. ( argh. sucks. diana (my older sister) told me that we should sue our old dentist because he was very bad. he didn’t take any x-rays of our teeth. he also did our braces very badly. i think he should at least pay for damages. all these years of false security. now i’ve definitely made up my 5 years of 0 cavities with this $1000 worth of cavities.

blah! on to other things. i’m currently in the middle of my paper about china’s one-child policy. this paper is not very hard to write. it is pretty concrete. i just need to write about the policy, what it did, the pros and cons, and my own opinion. it only needs to be four to five pages double-spaced in english! woohoo. i got back from the gym about an hour ago. i took a shower, flossed (very carefully), and brushed my teeth. i’m ready to finish this paper and go to bed. i can’t believe i have five classes tomorrow. i don’t know how i’ll adjust to this schedule. oh yeah, i joined another webring. i’m a webringaholic now. ( i don’t know why i keep joining them, but oh well. give it a click. i <3 my domain. hehe. well i better go back to my paper. i’m outties. :D
